Scope and Contents
This series contains documents relating to the governing bodies and members of the Hecht House prior to its merger with the Y.M.H.A. Included in this series are records regarding committees, including the Adult Forum, Budget, Membership and Personnel committees, as well as written histories of Hecht House, the constitution of the organization, and information pertaining to the merger of Hecht House and the Y.M.H.A. Of particular interest is a report written by Executive Director Mrs. Harry Saftel, which examines how the Hecht House handled the Depression, Pearl Harbor, and World War II, as well as the growing and prevalent anti-Semitism of the time. Please note that Box 2, folder 8 is restricted as it contains the evaluations of Hecht House personnel. The material is arranged alphabetically.
