This series contains correspondence, meeting minutes, membership lists, reports, bylaws, and various financial documents. Included in this series are records related to the Synagogue Council’s founding and its affiliated organizations, including the Beth Din, Kashruth Commission, Jewish Cemetery Association of Massachusetts (JCAM), and the Massachusetts Association of Temple and Synagogue Adminstrators (MATSA). A large variety of committee work is represented, particularly that of the Executive Board. Also included are correspondence and other materials related to the Synagogue Council’s relationship with other major Jewish organizations in the area, including Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP) and the Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Greater Boston, as well as grant proposals to various granting agencies, documents for their annual fundraising campaigns, and planning materials for the organization’s annual meetings. Of note is theSouth End Tenants Council case, a historic landlord-tenant dispute over which the Beth Din presided. Some folders are restricted.
