Merger Committee/By-Laws, 1947-1960
Scope and Contents
The Combined Jewish Appeal is the central fund-raising agency for support of local, national, overseas and Israeli agencies for Boston and surrounding communities. It is the fundraising arm of Associated Jewish Philanthropies. In 1960 LHW chaired the merge committee, which joined CJA and AJP into a single Combined Jewish Philanthropies, thus creating a central Jewish federation, which has been an active member of the Council of Jewish Federations of the United States and Canada. The series consists of correspondence, speeches, publicity materials, news clippings, by-laws and miscellany mostly from the 1950's.
