General, Naturalization Papers & Will: Henry Wyner, 1901-1929
Scope and Contents
This subseries contains the records of George and Gussie Wyner and includes the correspondence of George and Gussie with their children, grandchildren, extended family and friends on topics ranging from birthday greetings for George Wyner to an extensive correspondence between George Wyner and his brother-in-law Selig Edelman concerning legal and business matters and personal and family events. Other correspondence of interest are an 1899 letter to George Wyner from the people of the town of Malmesbury, South Africa, where George Wyner and his family lived before immigrating to the United States, conveying their regrets on his leaving and best wishes for his future as he makes plans to resettle in America and a 1926 letter from Hadassah founder Henrietta Szold to Hadassah officer, Gussie Wyner regarding work in Palestine and discussing Szold's upcoming Palestine visit to Wyner's father, Abraham Edelman. A bank draft for George Wyner from the African Banking Corporation Limited is also included, as well as Certificates of Recovery for the Jewish National Tree Fund, real estate documents, a naturalization certificate for George Wyner, Gussie Wyner's passport and miscellaneous materials documenting her travels to Europe and Palestine in 1927, as well as copies of wills, eulogies, obituaries and death notices for both George and Gussie. Subseries II and III also hold materials for the George Wyner Trust.

The collection is in English, with some early correspondence in Hebrew and Yiddish.
Access Restrictions
This collection is open for researcher use. Series III: Business (Boxes 70-96) is partially restricted. Reserchers who are interested in viewing these restricted materials must obtain permission for JHC archivists.
