 File — Box: 54, Folder: 28

Scope and Contents

From the Sub-Series:

Subseries II consists of materials relating to the local civic and professional activities of Justin and Genevieve, and describes their involvement in such organizations as the Brookline Civic Association, Brookline Community Cable, the Baker School PTO and the Brookline Town Meeting. Both Justin and Genevieve served as members of the Brookline PTO and the Brookline Town Meeting, and Justin was elected Town Moderator from 1970-1982 and again from 1991-1994. This section of the collection contains considerable correspondence covering the periods for which Justin was moderator and discusses a wide range of issues that confronted the town during the periods mentioned above. Along with the extensive correspondence are financial reports, Advisory Committee reports, Bicentennial Commission reports, annual and moderator reports, reports from the Board of Selectmen, as well as Justin's campaign materials including nomination papers, fliers, mailing lists, postcards and newspaper articles concerning his various election campaigns. Other materials in this sub-series discuss Justin's appointment by Governor William Weld and his subsequent involvement with the Governor's Committee for Juvenile Justice, 1990-1992. Of interest are the reports of the Department of Justice concerning juvenile justice and delinquency prevention and policy guidelines as well as materials for the 52nd Annual Training Conference of the New England Council on Crime and Delinquency. Also included here are documents describing Justin's activities as a Justice of the Peace, particularly certificates, correspondence, and other miscellaneous materials concerning marriage ceremonies he performed over the course of almost two decades.

This subseries also consists of documents describing Genevieve's activities as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Advisory Board of the Brookline Citizens' Committee for Dental Health, a sub group of the Massachusetts Citizens' Committee for Dental Health, an organization sponsoring a fluoridation referendum in the town of Brookline. There are fliers, correspondence, articles and reports concerning the benefits of fluoridation, especially for children's dental health.

Note: For professional organizations concerning business, see Series III: Business, Sub-series: Subject Files, which contains documents describing Justin and Rudolph Wyner's involvement with the National Knitted Outerwear Association.
