Scope and Contents
This series consists of published articles, news clippings, correspondence, newsletters and photographs related to the JCRC's function as a community mediator, advocate, and policymaker. Files include those on local and national antisemites such as Fathers Coughlin and Feeney, as well as reports from the changing neighborhoods of Roxbury, Mattapan and Dorchester, involvement in the Civil Rights Movement, fair employment and housing practices, pro-Israel activities, anti-Zionist propaganda, and individuals such as Roy Cohn, Hubert Humphrey, and John F. Kennedy. Council activities regarding interfaith issues, adoption, religious observances in public schools and college quotas are also in this series. Numerous boxes on the plight of Soviet Jewry are also included.
