Synagogue and Cemetery Correspondence, January-June 1941
Scope and Content Note
The records of Temple B’nai Israel primarily consist of minutes from meetings of the congregation, Board of Directors, and miscellaneous other groups and committees, along with correspondence related to the synagogue and the Temple Israel Burial Society. The meeting minutes appear in a variety of formats: Box 1 contains two bound ledgers with notes from the years 1907-1916 and 1916-1932; Box 2 includes minutes on pieces of scrap and notebook paper, while minutes from assorted meetings of groups, such as the Brotherhood and the Ways and Means Committee, were taken in a spiral-bound notebook. The correspondence is almost entirely made up of copies of letters from the synagogue president, Martin K. Alintuck, with some responses to Alintuck interspersed as well.
