Scope and Contents

This series contains art, artifacts, educational records, photographs, news clippings, maps, audiovisual materials, and correspondence documenting the personal life of Bernard A. Margolis. Included are diplomas, report cards, and yearbooks from elementary to graduate school; correspondence with friends and family; and materials related to Margolis’s Jewish life, including his Hebrew schooling and bar mitzvah. This series also contains materials detailing Margolis’s political involvement, including correspondence, forms, and photographs documenting his conscientious objection to the Vietnam War, as well as advertising materials, ephemera, correspondence, and news clippings chronicling his campaign for Michigan State Senate. Some large format artwork is stored separate from the collection.
