Combined Jewish Philanthropies–General Business, undated, 1927-2003

 File — Box: 2, Folder: 2

Scope and Contents

From the Series:

This series mostly contains publications by and newspaper clippings about Jewish organizations associated with the Jewish Federation of the North Shore. One folder holds assorted publications from the American Jewish Congress, Council of Jewish Federations, Jewish National Fund, and B’nai B’rith. Another folder includes annual reports, a yearbook, and two periodicals published by the United Jewish Appeal, along with a small group of newspaper clippings about UJA-sponsored events.

Two folders relate to the Combined Jewish Philanthropies and primarily contain records from the late 1920s to the 1940s when the organization was called the Federation of Jewish Charities. The records include Board of Directors meeting minutes from 1927 through 1933, donor reports from 1933 to 1944, and ticket lists for two fundraising banquets held in 1938 and 1939. Also found here is the report of the Long Range Planning Commission of the Combined Jewish Philanthropies, documenting a survey conducted over eight years in the 1960s to examine the needs of the Jewish population in Greater Boston.
