Series I: Jewish Life, undated, 1943-1974
Scope and Contents
Articles in the Jewish Life series document some of what occurred in the Jewish community between 1943 and 1974. A bulk of the articles (1946-1969) were from the "Local Lines" column, by Shapiro, that listed events and discussions in the Jewish community. Events could include lectures, schools, rabbinical appointments, synagogue mergers, and the affairs of organizations. The columns frequently began with a discussion of a major topic, such as civil rights or Soviet Jewry. For this reason, many of the series described below have articles related to them in Jewish Life. Other articles in the series discuss education, youth affairs, and elderly affairs within the Jewish community.
