Scope and Contents
This series contains meeting minutes, correspondence, catalogs, financial documents, receipts, reports, business plans, budgets, news clippings, and photographs documenting Spiro’s art and architectural supply firm, Charrette, from its founding in 1964 to its sale in 1997. Included are Board of Directors meeting minutes, sales figures, financial statements, correspondence detailing the company’s daily business affairs, and materials on Charrette’s branches in New York City, Puerto Rico, and on the Harvard campus. This series also documents Charrette’s involvement in establishing Ditto, a majority minority-owned blueprinting, copying, and reprographic company; its membership in National Art Industries; and its environmental cleanup efforts after an underground gasoline storage tank leak at its property in Woburn, Massachusetts. Furthermore, it contains materials on Charrette’s sale to Berkshire Partners LLC in 1997. Some folders are restricted. Subseries M: Sale is restricted until 2022.
