Scope and Contents
This series contains meeting minutes, architectural plans, correspondence, financial documents, lists, project files, awards, news clippings, reports, and publications that detail Spiro’s work and involvement in a variety of philanthropic, cultural, and environmental organizations, for many of which he served as a committee member, director, or trustee. This series mainly includes materials on his work with the Boston Athenæum, a membership library that is among the oldest and most renowned independent libraries in the nation, and with groups related to his alma mater, Harvard University, particularly the Harvard Alumni Association and the Harvard Club of Boston. It also documents his work with the Boston Society of Architects, Brookline Community Fund, Executive Service Corps, First Night, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Living Alternative Magazine, The Trustees of Reservations, and a number of other organizations. Subseries A: Boston Athenæum and Subseries G: Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum are restricted.
