Scope and Contents
This subseries contains correspondence, vital records, resumes, photographs, and news clippings related to Bernard A. Margolis’s personal life. Included is correspondence to and from his wife Amanda, as well as from miscellaneous friends; material related to Margolis’s involvement in Richard de Koster Associates in the late 1960s; and clothing items, including Margolis’s signature silk book ties and a bolo tie. Also included is research on the Joy family, who built and lived in the the house in West Roxbury, Boston, Massachusetts, where Margolis lived while working as president of the BPL, and on artist Nelson Chase (see Series B, Subseries I for artwork by Chase), who painted a mural in the house.
