Scope and Contents
The majority of this series consists of classwork from Joseph Mandell at Harvard University and Pearl Bornstein at Boston University’s College of Secretarial Science, including notes, assignments, grade reports, a diploma, graduation invitations and programs, clippings about the Girls’ Mandolin Club, and a yearbook. There are also some materials from Joseph Mandell’s freshman year at the University of Maine and from several preparatory schools that he attended, including a chemistry lab book under the name Joseph Mandelbaum. Additionally, there are a few items from Merle Mandell’s school career, Pearl Bornstein’s diploma from Medford Grammar School, Louis Bornstein’s graduation program from Medford High School, and commencement materials from Susan Mandell’s graduation from Radcliffe College.

The collection is in English with two letters and one photo caption in French, a few pages of Hebrew exercises, some Russian on the back of one cabinet card, and a bit of shorthand.
