Natalie Velleman Genealogies
Scope and Content Note
The collection consists of ten genealogical books entitled DI TSVAYGELEKH "The Little Twigs," containing introductory articles, maps, genealogical charts and photocopies of photographs for ten Jewish families from Europe who settled in Massachusetts: The Silberberg-Lappen family which originated in Latvia; the Nodle-Nodel-Needleman, Zollavaicheck-Zolliavitsky-Zilvickis-Zoll-Zall and Borofsky-Silverstein families, all of whom originated in Lithuania; the Bernstein-Gostinsky-Gostin family, who originated in Poland; the Barenberg-Berenberg, Breitman-Brettman-Brothman, and Velleman and Van Praag families, who originated in Holland; and the Feitel-Faitel-Finn families, who originated in Russia. Please note a list of resources is included but the genealogies are uncited.

Biographical Note
Natalie Joyce Needleman was born February 28, 1929 in Chelsea, Massachusetts to Philip and Rose (Freedman) Needleman. She was the youngest of her three siblings, Charlotte, Beatrice, and Sidney.
In 1947, she married Leonard Herbert Breitman, who was born in 1925 to Sam and Fannie (Gostin) Breitman in Lynn, Massachusetts. Sam owned Lester Shoe Co. in Chelsea, Massachusetts. Leonard attended New York Military Academy and Mantor Hall.
The couple settled in Lynn, and Leonard worked at his father’s shoe company. The couple had four children: Alan, Karen, Neal, and Phyllis. Leonard Breitman died in 1961.
Natalie went back to school when she enrolled at Boston University, and later attended North Shore Community College.
In 1963 Natalie married Harold Velleman. Harold Elliott Velleman was born March 4, 1923 in Malden, Massachusetts to Louis and Minnie (Silverstein) Velleman. Harold was the youngest of his 3 siblings, Nathan, Evelyn, and Mildred.
In 1944, he married Sally Finn, the daughter of Thomas and Bessie (Finklepearl) of Malden. The couple had a son Barry. Sally died in 1961.
Shortly after graduating from high school Harold became an apprentice in a dental lab. For 23 years he worked in Commercial Laboratories, later accepting a position at Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 1965 as a technical instructor. He later opened his own lab in the basement of his home in Swampscott, Mass. before retiring in 1986.
Harold died on March 20, 2013, and Natalie died on October 26, 2018.
